What an advice question is

An advice question asks the cards what to do. Not what will happen, and not what is going on. What to do.

There are three kinds of question in the Clear Cut Tarot Method. Advice asks what do I do. Observation asks what is actually going on. Outcome asks where does this lead. Tonight we are only working with advice.

A good advice question leaves the sitter with something they can go and do tomorrow. If the answer could be yes or no, it is not advice. If it describes a situation rather than a next step, it is not advice.

Guidance, not prediction. That is the whole night in four words.

Practice, not performance

Everyone here has come through the Clear Cut Method, so you are all looking at the cards the same way, but you are at different points on the road and that is exactly the point. Tonight you get to give a reading and receive one. Nobody is marking you. Say what you see, and let the other person do the same.

Keep off tonight: legal, illegal, financial, medical, births, deaths and pregnancy. And no predictions.

Two cards, two jobs

You pull two cards for every advice question. The first card is what you need to know. The second card is the advice. Tap each card to see its job.

Card one is the picture. Card two is what to do about it.

Say it out loud in two sentences. What you need to know is and then so the advice is.

Pick a scenario. Three that work, and one that sounds like advice but is not.

Build an advice question

Three taps and one blank. The blank always comes last, so whatever you type, the question holds together.

Type the thing, not a question. Two or three words is plenty. For example my job, moving house, the wedding, my brother.

Spot the advice question

Five quick ones. Some have more than one right answer.

Break the card into its elements

Before you say a word, go through the five. Tap each one for a reminder and a question to ask yourself.

Sit with the card

When a card lands, do not react to it. Do not react to its reputation, to what a book once told you, or to the face the sitter pulls. Sit with it. Break it into its elements. Then build the sentence for this question and this person.

No card can ever mean the same thing twice. You are not reading the card, you are reading the card for that person, in that moment, in that situation. The context changes everything. A fixed meaning is just a starting point somebody else gave you.

If it was not meant to be there, why is it there.

Tonight in the breakout rooms

    Decide who reads first. The other person is the sitter.

    The sitter builds an advice question using the builder above and says it out loud. Reader, if you hear the word or, stop and split it.

    Reader pulls one card. Sit with it before you speak.
  4. 4
    Go through the five. Number, colours, symbols, animals, suit. Say what you actually see.
  5. 5
    Two sentences. What you need to know is. So the advice is.
  6. 6
    Swap over. If there is time, a second question each. Then Soriah will call you back to the main room.
